Hageney Elected President of International Marketing Council

The American Marketing Association appoints Colin Hageney to lead Professional Chapters Council

CHICAGO – July 24, 2006
– The AMA Houston Chapter announced today that Colin Hageney, President of Bullpen Marketing, has been elected President of the American Marketing Association's Professional Chapters Council (PCC). Hageney was president of AMA Houston from 2000-2002 and was the first Houstonian on the PCC when he first joined it in 2002.

The Professional Chapters Council is a select group of 10 volunteer professionals, nominated from past-presidents of the 73 AMA chapters across the United States and Canada. PCC members are selected based on their proven excellence as a chapter leader and their leadership in marketing in their local business communities. The PCC's vision is to support a growing number of professional chapters that continue to thrive and succeed through a solid stream of passionate, dedicated leadership, providing innovative, high-impact programming to an ever increasing membership roster.

While on the PCC, Hageney was chair of the 2004 Leadership Summit in Chicago as well as the chair of the Chapter Excellence Awards. Hageney also started numerous PCC initiatives including web conferences with chapter leaders around the country, an online speaker directory and a chapter reserve reinvestment program.

"I am excited to have Colin as the new President of the Professional Chapters Council," stated Ric Sweeney, the immediate past-president of the PCC. "Colin's experience and outstanding performance as a two-term president of the Houston chapter, his dedication to helping others, and his commitment to growing the marketing profession are the qualities the AMA looks for in its greatest leaders."

Dennis Dunlap, AMA's Chief Executive Officer, added the association's perspective. "The PCC is one of four Councils that make up the core of AMA's membership value delivery. In 2005, the Professional Chapters Council and associated volunteers dedicated over 2,500 hours of service to our members," Dunlap explained. "Knowledgeable, committed volunteers like Colin enhance local AMA chapters by assisting them with effective chapter management and by providing them with tools to deliver and communicate the wealth of AMA membership benefits and professional resources."

About the Professional Chapters Council (PCC) In his role on the PCC, Hageney will be responsible for assisting the American Marketing Association in strengthening the value to and leadership of professional chapters, developing and managing programs to enhance the overall effectiveness of chapters and chapter management and acting as an advocate for the professional members to the AMA International Headquarters' Board of Directors.
